Happy Waiting

Happy Waiting is a collection of reflections written during the first six months of pregnancy, between March and August 2025. Weaving thoughts, memories, and anticipations of motherhood, it takes the form of a distinctive journal.
Throughout the book, the notion of motherhood serves as an underlying theme, interwoven with readings, travels and conversations with women artists.
It captures an outwardly unchanged daily life at a moment of quiet transformation—when nothing seems different yet, and yet nothing will ever be quite the same again.
Dominika Hadelová is the co-founder and editor of Matto magazine.
Each copy of Happy Waiting includes five photographs taken by the author during the summer of 2025 and manually inserted.
The selection of images varies from one copy to another.
